The Printers and Faxes window appears. The Printing Preferences window appears. Verify the Paper Size drop-down is set to the correct paper size loaded in the specific tray to be printed from..

Verify the Paper Size From the Printing Application Matches the Designated Printer Tray To verify the paper size from the printing application matches the designated printer tray, perform the following steps: Open the application being used to print the document.
Microsoft Word Click File and click Print. Verify the paper size. Click File and click Print. Verify the paper source. Do not replace any printer hardware as this is not a printer hardware issue.
This printer determines what size paper is installed in it by the little "fingers" on the left side of the tray. When you adjust the paper tray, it determines how those fingers are positioned, and therefore, how the switch reads the paper size. If the tray setting is off, even by one little click, then the machine may read the paper size as other then letter. If this happens, you send a letter size job to the printer, and it doesnt think it has letter size paper, it will tell you to put letter paper in the MPF feeder.
Here is the deal. You have to exactly match the settings for the MPF tray in the aplication softwares to the MPF tray settings set from front panel on the printer. I found this problem when trying to print on gloss paper. The MPF tray had to be set for "Coated 1 Side 2" in both the application and on the front of the printer. Lets say I'm printing a Word Document. Now do the printer setup. From the front panel on the printer. Press Menu, press the down button to Tray Settings Press center button to select.
Display now asks for paper type. Push down button until you see Coat1 Side2 Push center button to select. Press Menu to exit. I was told this slows the feed and that is needed for coated papers. Now you could probably use another setting as long you set both the MPF tray in both the application and the control panel to match exactly. Not finding what you are looking for? I can Press the select and return on power up and get into the config menu. From there I can print a quality test wich works fine.
The print is good. I can not ping the printer IP address either. What can we do to fix the problem? Related Topics paper sizes dell w melinda meli tray 1 laser work ir tray 1 printer needs troubleshooting Ask a Question Usually answered in minutes!

Posted by Laurie Brown on Nov 23, We have two Dell with rear doors. Pull out the paper trays and look inside with a flashlight for any torn paper. Open the rear doo and look for paper just inside the rollers, or torn pieces at the edges where the sensor is. Then close the door, cut the power and switch back on after 10 seconds.
