Windows Update Can T Find Printer Driver Install Update
Please select a correct driver from the list. Wait for the process finishes and try to find the driver again. I had a similar problem, but from what I saw even weirder. I set up a wireless Homegroup with all 3 computers.
Here's where it gets intersting. However, when I tried to install the HP printers on the second bit PC using the "Add a network, wireless, of Bluetooth printer" option, it saw the printer on the other bit PC, but when it tried to install it I got an error messge saying the driver was missing. The only way I could get the printer to work was to set it up as a local printer with the porting method graciously submitted by Arthur Xie.
Same editions Windows 7 Pro on all three PC's! I thought the Homegroups were supposed to vastly simplify things Thanks Arthur, worked perfectly! I don't understand why though it is necessary to set up a local port for a shared networked device, any thoughts? HP Photosmart C still not showing up. So I tried a different driver and it worked, but it only prints 4x6. It won't use the whole page. I tried installing directly to my computer and it worked.
Then tried to plug it back into the other computer and change the port on the computer I want to print from, but it won't print at all now. I've been messing with it trying different things and now I can't even get my computer to print at all, even 4x6. And I can't delete the port and try to recreate it. I don't like not being able to do what I want to do to my computer. I'm ready to go back to XP now. Never had problems getting this to work with XP.
I tried the "fix" for the shared printer as described local port, etc. I'm trying to install an HP deskjet c. I even plugged the printer directly into the laptop so it would "have" the driver it kept not knowing about. I've been messing with this endlessly and still no luck. Arthur Xie solutions works great, after trying to install it from the network wizzard without success, I finally found Arthur Xie method. Easy way, just have to think about it. Thanks, this worked for me too Arthur's method is only needed in order to refresh the list of printer drivers the computer knows about!
Sound like a good solution. I do have a question. After connecting the printer to the router, will the printer get assigned an IP address in order to set the printer up as a tcpip printer across the network? If not then how do I configure it??? When I set the network printer on windows 7, do you think that the os will find suitable drivers this time.
After many hours of trying everything I came across this thread and it worked flawlessly on a windows 8 laptop connecting to a windows xp pc printer.
I am having a similar problem and have tried all of these suggested solutions. Nothing seems to work.
I have 2 windows xp laptops and they were networked with a router with a desktop computer which was also Windows XP 32 bit. The desktop is connected to the router and the laptops are wireless. I was able to print from any computer for years. And now I am having the same problems described in this forum but cannot seem to get it to work.
I have tried everything. If I try to connect to the printer from my laptop, the message is "the server for the hp laser jet PCL 5 printer does not have the correct printer driver installed. If you want to search Operation could not be completed. Its installs perfectly and I am able to print on it. I then install the cable on the desktop windows 7 computer and try to again locate the driver on the laptop, I cannot.
When I attempt to connect to the shared printer Windows 7 cannot find the driver. I installed the printer as a local instance and was able to install the drivers from windows 7. Why cant i access the drivers included with the windows 7 OS to access this printer? Friday, September 25, 5: Please follow the steps below. Marked as answer by networkengineer49 Monday, September 28, 6: Monday, September 28, 7: Have you tried the add a networked printer method? Is the XP computer identified as a networked PC?
The wizard should install it that way. Friday, September 25, 6: I have posted this tip earlier another thread , try maunally updating your printer with Vista drivers, trough the Device Manager this works fine with most HP printers. Exept of course you want windows 7 to do it himself: Friday, September 25, 9: HP stopped publishing drivers for Vista - tried the xp drivers and windows 7 won't pick up the x Other versions of drivers won't work from the experience of other users on this forum.
So, Win 7 sees the printer under add a networked printer, yet won't install it? Saturday, September 26, 8: That was the ticket! Monday, September 28, 6: HP Deskjet - Windows 7 has these drivers and many more already installed in the OS - not sure why network install will not use these drivers or give you the choice to look for yourself.
It's a shared printer, not a networked printer. The user for the new machine needs to be a user with Admin privileges on the machine with the printer for the auto config to work. Xie instructed is needed. Depending on you physical network configuration, you can use the HP JetDirect x and connect the printer to the router or a switch for a true networked printer. Then the host computer doesn't need to on. I use the same printer with that configuration. Find'em on eBay with the cable and power adapter.
Tuesday, September 29, Glad to hear that the issue is resolved! Tuesday, September 29, 2: I don't care - it's remote. A networked printer would have installed just fine - those are easy because they provide the required drivers - they're set up that way. I expected that when you attempted to install a shared printer windows 7 would pick up the driver that was installed in the OS or at least give you a choice to find the driver yourself.
Sunday, November 1, 3: The exact problem is posted all over the internet without a satisfactory solution thanks again Steve. Wednesday, February 3, 6: It worked for me too. Have no idea what I've done with this port business and it would have taken me a long time to find this without you. Saturday, February 13, 3:
Windows Update cannot retrieve drivers for my printers
I upgraded to windows 10 Creator update recently in my windows 10 PC. The printer was working fine. Suddenly after the upgrade, I find an error message saying the printer driver is not found and HP Solution centre is also not working. I guess there is a driver issue with the creators update. I see that you are having issues with the printer driver including the solution center after the recent Windows update. Solution center is an older software and hence may not be compatible with the new Windows 10 environment. The issue might have been caused by recent updates on your computer.
